MidSem Break!

So I got up at 4:30 am to catch a 7:00 flight back home to NYC. I had a great break! That night I saw my hero, Stephanie J Block, in WICKED and she was incredible. She is the nicest person you will ever meet in your entire life. Even though she was in a rush she was incredibly gracious. I feel so lucky to have see her perform live. The next day I had a doctor's appointment and the doctor made me wait for like an hour before he saw me--it sucked. That night very randomly I decided to enter myself in the IN THE HEIGHTS lottery not expecting to win at all but lo and behold my name was the third one called! It was like the theatre gods knew how fuc*ing badly I wanted to see this show.
As I was killing time before the show started I was in Starbucks sitting on a heater when who do I see but Tituss Burgess (of JERSEY BOYS and now LITTLE MERMAID fame). The people next to me recognized him so he stopped and talked with us briefly. It was really random. I started talking with the people next to me and it turns out that they were Broadway fans too! They were awesome. Two guys and a girl who are even more obsessed with Broadway as I am. They were really nice and were around my age. It was pretty freaking amazing.
IN THE HEIGHTS was fantastic! If it doesn't at least win the best choreography Tony I will cry. Unlike the show that won it last year it will certainly deserve it. Lin-Manuel Miranda did an absolutely incredible job with the music. I feel like it will become my next JERSEY BOYS. I had written on Lin-Manuel's facebook wall a couple of times and he wrote on mine too but I was totally not expecting him to remember me at all. So when he came out and signed my playbill I told him that him writing on my wall on my birthday made my day he looks up and me and says and I quote "Kathleen Parker" I was floored! I've seen JERSEY BOYS almost 20 times and only one of the cast members knows my name and sometimes she even forgets (which is completely understandable).
I met the same amazing people I had met in Starbucks on the subway ride back home which was really random but amazing at the same time!
I had a ticket to see the show the next night that I had bought a while ago so I saw it again and it was still fantastic. I forgot something in my seat and as I walked back into the theatre I almost ran into Lin Miranda and he looked at me and was like "Hi Kathleen" I again was floored. I think it is a sign I spend wayyyyy too much time on Facebook. I got what I had forgotten and he said hi to me again. Seriously amazing. Ok I have more to share but I should go do work
